On the BMW F97 this something a regular DIYer with solid mechanical skills can do, but I wouldn't say it's something a newbie can do easily. Need to know how to use, manipulate & work automotive spring clips.The case once installed is actually pretty nifty and useful. Smart idea. It fits well into the handle recess on the F97 X3M driver side, but the recess does hide the pull-down slot a bit although its really not a problem at all. I actually like it tucked away up in that space - clean look and the finish looks factory.Removal of the old handle on the F97 wasn't hard but there are no screws to remove the handle so it might not be easy for some folks to do. You need a small flat tip to pry the two covers off (from the top - there is a slot) and then you need to use a flat tip screwdriver to pry the two tabs on the silver spread spring clip that is snapped up into the ceiling and is holding the handle up there. You can see them easily (two flat tabs per clip - four total) if you use a flashlight.Insert the flat tip under either tab on the first clip and pull "lightly" down on the handle at the same time to ensure it disengages from the recess. It wont move a lot but you can feel it move down slightly. Then do the same on the second tab of the same clip. Work ONE clip at a time and that clip should then pop out of the ceiling with some pressure applied down. Do the same on the second clip and the entire handle should pop/pull out. I put the plastic covers back on the removed handle to not lose any pieces in storage.Before you can install the new sunglass holder on the F97 you need to spread open the spring tabs on the new black snap in clips provided. The ceiling slot that these clips "snap" up into is wider than the spring tabs are open. I used a smaller flat tip and needle nose pliers to "carefully" spread them open about twice as wide as they came and checked them against the gap until I knew they would snap up into the gap AND stay in place/not fall out.Once they looked right (don't put them in until you know they are about right) I pushed/snapped a clip into the front and back gaps and installed the case with the two screws provided. Put one screw in partially first as its a bit clumsy to hold the spring loaded case open while lining up the screws. Once you get the first screw started the second is easier. Line the case up (fore/aft) in the ceiling recess where you want it and snug the screws down. No need to over tighten them, just nice and sung. The two plastic covers then snap over the screw holes - tabs make it obvious how they fit.My large Ray Bans fit fine in there and will no longer get scratched in my cupholder or door pockets!
